Dr Julie Langguth’s first visit to Annapolis was on her first date with her husband. It was love at first sight…with the city! It would take a few more dates for her to realize Devin was “the one.” Devin was an ’01 Naval Academy grad who decided to take her on the yard for a romantic first date to the Visitor’s Center. Little did the South Florida native know she’d marry the Northern Minnesotan or that many years and two kids later, they would call this charming city in the middle “home.”
Dr. Langguth completed her D.M.D. in her hometown of Fort Lauderdale at Nova Southeastern University. She then attended a three-year orthodontic residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore where she also earned her Master’s degree and worked as part of the cleft palate team at Johns Hopkins. In 2006 and 2007 she completed two fellowships at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and has publications from her work at the NIH.
After completing her education, Dr. Langguth spent several years at a state-of-the-art private practice in Northern Virginia while Devin served at Quantico Marine Corps Base and the Pentagon. She has extensive experience treating Invisalign and Invisalign Teen cases. She is well-versed in the use of digital scanning in place of impressions and in the use of 3D imaging to better diagnose orthodontic cases. Dr. Langguth also has a special interest in how breathing and airway affects jaw development and is a continual student of this ever-developing topic. In addition, Dr. Langguth has completed numerous hours of continuing education at the Spear Center and the Dawson Academy. She founded and led a Spear Study Club for dentists and dental specialists for the last several years.
When Dr. Langguth met Dr. Berkinshaw, it didn’t take them long to realize they had the same core values. It was important to both to provide progressive orthodontic treatment that not only created a beautiful smile but also a functional bite their patients could enjoy for life. And more importantly, they both believe you should treat others as you would want to be treated. She feels honored to join such a fantastic practice in such a wonderful area and looks forward to meeting you!
